Issues

School boards play a crucial role in shaping education policies and making decisions that impact students, teachers, and the overall educational system. Here is a list of some important issues I plan to address once elected and possible solutions:

•High-quality and well-rounded education for all students (emphasis on the arts, economics, foreign languages, nutrition, physical education, and other enrichment activities).

•Early childhood education and child care (new and larger facility focusing on early education).

•Adequate funding (government initiatives, community partnerships, fundraising).

•Teacher recruitment and retention (professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, support systems).

•Mental health and well-being (more counselors, access to tele-health, teacher/staff awareness training).

•Academic excellence (strong foundation in core subjects, such as science, mathematics, social studies, language arts to prepare students for further education or the workforce).

•Nutritious school meals for ALL (organic fruits/vegetables, fresh food).

•School safety (emergency preparedness, bullying/harassment, CCTV).

•Teachers benefits (job security, competitive compensation, and prime health insurance).

•Parent and community engagement (communication, involvement, collaboration).

•Teaching our children to stand up for their Constitutional Rights (guest speakers, commemorating Constitution Day and Citizenship Day annually).

•Special education and individualized support (IEP’s, inclusive classroom practices, assistive technology, hire and retain highly qualified and trained teachers and support staff).

•Fiscal responsibility and financial accountability (transparent budgeting, strategic resource allocation, long-term planning, efficiency and cost-effectiveness, regular audits).

•Celebrate and support our teachers (recognize achievements, flexible work environment, volunteer support, teacher appreciation events).

•Family values & parental engagement (regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, involvement in decision making).

•Prioritize academic fundamentals and career readiness (college/career counseling, workforce skill development, business partnerships, vocational/technical education).

•Removing regulatory barriers that inhibit teachers from delivering quality education (micromanagement).

•Technology integration (training for teachers/students, grants/partnerships to acquire resources).

•School facilities and infrastructure (allocate funds for improvements, such as renovations, upgrading technology, expanding classrooms).
